Schwarze Industries, one of the world’s largest street and parking area sweeper manufacturers, announced today that they will be showing a new range of trailer and road brooms at the upcoming National Pavement Expo in Nashville, Tenn., February 3-5, 2011.

Schwarze Industries recently purchased the product line in Australia and are now marketing a wide range of road brooms, tractor brooms, and trailer brooms as Bonne Sweepers (www.bonne.com.au). Manufacturing in the states is set to begin soon at Schwarze’s Huntsville, Ala. facility.

“One of our most popular models, the SE6T, comes with wireless control for start/stop, raise/lower, broom speed, broom angle and side shift,” explained Malcolm Cameron of Schwarze Australia. “They can be pulled with a normal pick-up at highway speeds reducing travel time to the job site.”

The product line also includes tractor brooms used on asphalt re-surfacing and milling, industrial sites and construction cleanup.

While immediately available in Australia, the entire product line will be introduced into the US market in 2011.

Schwarze Industries, one of the world’s largest street and parking area sweeper manufacturers, announced today they will be unveiling their all-new lineup of S-Series machines at the National Pavement Expo in Nashville, Tenn. on February 3, 2011 at 11:30 AM.

Schwarze Industries, one of the world’s largest street sweeper and asphalt patcher manufacturers, announced today the promotion of Chris Crews to National Sales Manager for the S-Series sales team.

Born and raised in Huntsville, Ala., Crews actually started working with Schwarze back in the eighties delivering sweepers as a summer job while he was home from college. Enjoying the work, eventually Crews moved into demos, S-Series sales, and eventually landed in the A&M department. In 1998 Crews left Schwarze to start his own equipment dealership, CRC Solutions, then worked for other sweeper companies before signing back on with Schwarze. “Sweeping is the only thing I’ve ever done, in some shape, form or fashion.” said Crews. “I’ve been on the contractor and municipal side of the industry, I’m very familiar with the customer base and their needs, and I think I can contribute a lot here at Schwarze.”

Crews will be charged with jumpstarting the new S-Series machines set to unveil at the upcoming National Pavement Expo in Nashville, Tenn., on February 3rd. “We’ve got some real innovative ideas we’re excited to introduce to our customers,” said Crews. “The new S-Series is going to add another dimension to what we offer. Schwarze Industries and Enova Systems Set to Develop Fully Electric Green Sweeper for U.S. Air Force

Schwarze Industries, one of the world’s largest street sweeper and asphalt patcher manufacturers, has partnered with Enova Systems, a leading innovator of electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle solutions for medium and heavy-duty trucks and busses, to develop a fully electric green sweeper for the United States Air Force (USAF).

The fully electric green sweeper will be powered by the Enova 120kW all-electric drive system coupled with a hydraulic pump, and will use hydrogen produced by a solar electric array. This advanced drive system will be paired with Schwarze’s proven regenerative air sweeper design. Production will take place at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Honolulu, Hawaii, where it will be the first advanced sweeper technology used by the USAF.

Schwarze Industries Provides Unique and Competitive Finance Program for Customers

Schwarze Industries, one of the world’s largest street sweeper and asphalt patcher manufacturers, and Wells Fargo Equipment Finance, Inc. (WFEFI) have teamed up to offer a new financing program for Schwarze sweeping and road maintenance equipment.

“Wells Fargo Equipment Finance is an industry leader in specialty vehicle financing,” said Bob Faulhaber, President of Schwarze Industries. “We are proud to have financing programs with Wells Fargo to offer our customers competitive and flexible financing options, which could be a necessity for some in today’s economy.”

Financial product options with the new program include equipment loans, terminal rental adjustment clause (TRAC) leases, and municipal equipment financing. Terms range in length from 36 to 60 months, and seasonal payments are also available.

WFEFI will also work with Schwarze customers to provide other customized financing solutions in order to meet specific needs. “We want our customers to feel comfortable when purchasing new equipment in an unpredictable economy,” said Faulhaber. “We are confident the financing options this new program provides will help keep their minds at ease.”
Up to 100 percent of the net invoice amount can be financed, on approved credit. Credit decisions will typically be made within one business day following WFEFI’s receipt of a completed application for transactions under $175,000. For amounts greater than $175,000, a credit decision can often be made within three business days after receipt of a complete credit application.

Schwarze Promotes Dealer Development by Hosting Innovative Com V Sales Training

Schwarze Industries, one of the world’s largest street sweeper and asphalt patcher manufacturers, has enlisted Com V Ltd. to assist their dealers in developing stronger sales skills.

Com V Ltd. was founded in 2005 by Bill Munn and is designed to help develop and train employees to uncover personal productive and counterproductive habits, and then change the latter. “I moved through a number of positions in the company I used to work for,” said Munn. “And I ended up becoming a group director of product sales and training. Just before my retirement, I was asked to put something in writing for my course.” That something was his book 54321…The Journey to a Sale, which is a complete set of notes for the classroom training he now conducts with his business. “It represents everything I have learned and taught over the years.

“Unlike other sales processes, 54321 is applied from the ‘inside, out’ to create changes in the individual by eliminating their common fears and attitudes that lead to ineffective sales behaviors. Then we discuss the five steps to a sale. Those two processes contribute to the transformation of a person into a highly qualified sales person.”

Schwarze Teams Up with Lafayette, Indiana to Help Clean More than Streets

Schwarze Industries, one of the world’s largest street sweeper manufacturers, announced today that, with the help of the Water Pollution Control Department, the city of Lafayette, Indiana’s Street Department has purchased two Schwarze model DXR street sweepers.

Because of its waterless and dustless design, the DXR will primarily serve as an environmentally friendly, year-round sweeping solution. But what sold the Water Pollution Control Department on helping the Street Department purchase the DXR? The fact that the DXR contains and traps very fine particulate matter, including “PM-10 fines” known to contain a high percentage of heavy metals, phosphates, and other pollutants. Pollutants that if neglected end up in storm water runoff and eventually in the city’s sewers.

“If you don’t keep the streets clean, everything ends up in the sewers and eventually our rivers, lakes and bays,” said Kenny Martin, Midwest Regional Sales Manager. “Many city departments are beginning to realize that it’s mutually beneficial to help each other out financially,” said Martin. “Through the cooperation of the different departments and recognition of the benefit of having this equipment, everybody wins. The streets are clean, the storm drains stay clean, and you can capture materials that would have polluted the air.”

Although apart of the same municipality, most cities have stand-alone budgets for each of their departments, including the city of Lafayette. A self-starter, Hendrickson has had a long history in a short, less than three-year stint with Schwarze. “I’ve been in sales management for 15 years, and the majority of my expirence comes from the service industry,” said Hendrickson. “When I signed on with Schwarze in 2007 I was hired into an entry-level position on the sales team. I brought my experience to Schwarze and began absorbing all aspects of the industry that were not normally in my realm of expertise. My quick ability to learn and attention to detail is why I was promoted to regional sales manager for the southeast.”

New Schwarze GS6 Sweeper Designed to Reduce Cost, Increase Profit for End User

The Schwarze model GS6 is a heavy duty, chassis-mounted, regenerative air sweeper. Engineered with a completely new approach to sweeper frame design, the GS6 can be manufactured without the need for a chassis on site. It can then be shipped in a container to the mounting location for final installation on the chassis. This approach drastically reduces freight costs worldwide making the GS6 more competitive in a global market.

Several industry leading features come standard on the GS6, including Schwarze’s WhisperWheelSM fan system which lets Schwarze air sweepers run more than 70 percent quieter and with up to 20 percent less fuel consumption. Also included on the GS6 is Schwarze’s industry leading Sweeps-In-ReverseSM feature, allowing operation in both forward and reverse directions.

“We talked with drivers and found that there was a need to address uneven debris distribution in street sweeping,” said Raymond Massey, Director of Sales and Marketing for Schwarze. “Previously, drivers were having to periodically tap the breaks to level out debris. In 2002, the business purchased two new Schwarze sweepers. It was the best move we ever made!

The Schwarze trucks are great trucks! The 348-I model is one awesome sweeper because it is so diversified. It will clean streets of dirt,
trash, debris and even light millings. The company has been TOPS! They have QUALITY equipment and stand behind their product and warranty.
That to me says it all! Also I want to mention Gerald Gann in the parts department. Give credit where it's due and he is great! He has been a key link.

I would highly recommend Schwarze to anyone looking to buy a sweeper. They are so personable and will work with you at all cost. I have had dealings in the past with other companies for lower prices, only to pay in the long run.

I find myself repeating that famous line from the movie Jerry McGuire “Show me the Money”, every time I speak with someone about Stimulus funds impact in our industry. I suppose that we should not be surprised that the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has been largely invisible to date. It is a very bureaucratic process with delayed federal funds trickling down to under funded state and local governments, through layers of regional planning and socioeconomic slicing and dicing. In the end, we may look forward to some relative momentum developing in early 2010. One thing is certain – first in line will get the biggest and best piece of pie, so we need to be poised to act as projects become active.

One of the largest line items in the federal stimulus package is the roughly $27 billion allocated for roadway and bridge construction. Nearly one fourth will be spent in California, Texas and Florida. There are also a significant number of active projects in New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Washington. Internet sites that contain good information on recovery projects are: www.recovery.org or www.onvia.com. Our products may be important components of these projects so your time digging into these sites may be worthwhile. Happy Hunting!

At Schwarze, we have been carefully monitoring our costs and productivity to keep us financially in tune with current economic conditions. I am pleased to report to you that we are positioned to weather current conditions. While we have been aggressive in cost control, we have not reduced our R & D effort. We have introduced new control designs on our M6000 Mechanical Sweeper and RP006 Road Patcher with simplified, Can-Bus operation. This reduced complexity will, in turn, result in significant improvements in quality and reliability. We will continue to listen to your feedback to continuously improve our products.

These are certainly challenging times for our industry and customers. Many municipalities are experiencing rating downgrades and contractors are finding it difficult to secure financing. We have been working in concert with other Alamo Group companies to identify attractive Wholesale and Retail financing solutions for our various customers. Over the past year we have had some exciting products hit the streets, the first being the new Schwarze DXR Dustless Regenerative Air Street Sweeper. The DXR provides unequalled dust control in the most extreme applications without the use of water. Information attained from our demonstration blitz this past spring 2008, allowed Schwarze Engineering to make a few changes that increased the overall performance of the DXR. We encourage all dealers to schedule this unit for demonstrations in their sales territory as this is an ever growing market with huge revenue and profit opportunities.

Back in August of 2008, Schwarze Industries, Inc. completed the Toronto Street Sweeper Efficiency Testing Protocol in Humboldt, Saskatchewan with the Schwarze DXR. This testing was related to PM10 and PM 2.5 pickup and containment and is the most aggressive testing procedure for any sweeper in the world. As of May 1st, we were notified that the DXR passed the stringent testing requirements and our certification is being completed by the Canadian ETV (same as the US EPA). We will be able to utilize this certification in our selling process by the first of June 2009.

We have also seen a redesign of M6000TECO hit the streets with our new CAN-bus control system. This new control system eliminated over 50% of the hydraulic lines, as well as over 50% of the total amount of wiring, when compared to the previous design. Additionally, the trouble shooting capabilities of this system will assist in drastically reducing the downtime when a challenge is encountered. We also made standard O-Ring Face Seal Hydraulic Hoses which provide a better positive seal and virtually eliminate leaks that were prevalent with the previous JIC fittings. Overall, the selling features of the new M6000TECO far exceed our previous offering. Currently, the Schwarze Engineering Team is completing the M6000SE and TE conventional cab units with a scheduled release at the beginning of the 3rd quarter of 2009.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Robert ("Bob") Faulhaber as company president of Schwarze Industries, Inc in Huntsville Alabama.

Bob has over 30 years of manufacturing experience and was most recently President of Mid-South Industries, a manufacturing company serving a variety of industries including automotive, telecom and industrial controls. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Kean University and has served in numerous capacities during his career in manufacturing operations.

We would also like to thank and recognize Jim Adair for his commitment and performance as the Interim President. Jim will continue his duties as Vice President of Schwarze Industries.

Infinite Possibilities.

The selection of Schwarze products and its sweeper options is large. Really, really large. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly large it is. I mean, you may think our competitor’s selection of a left or right gutter broom is a lot, but that’s just peanuts compared to the Schwarze selection.

The best attempt to calculate the Schwarze sweeper selection recently showed that the total amount of possible unique combinations of sweeper options was possibly 8,008,797,933, which by a totally staggering coincidence is also the toll free phone number of Schwarze Industries in Huntsville, Alabama.

In 2007 however, Schwarze Industries invented the “Infinite Possibility Locator” system. This patent pending “Infinite Possibility Locator” is a wonderful new method of sorting out these enormous amounts of possibilities in mere seconds, without all that hassle of having to look around on the Schwarze Industries website for hours on end.

It was discovered by a lucky chance, and then developed into a tool for the Schwarze.com website, and this briefly, is the story of its discovery.

The principle of sorting out small amounts of possibilities by simply hooking the logic circuits of a simple computation system to an artificial intelligent processing linguistics device suspended in a strong regenerative air motion producer were of course well understood; and such finite possibility demodulators were often used to break the ice at parties by making all the molecules in the hostess’s undergarments leap simultaneously one foot to the left, in accordance with the Theory of Indeterminacy.

Many respectable Schwarze engineers however, said they were not going to stand for this, partly because it was a debasement of sweeper engineering, but mostly because they didn’t get invited to those kinds of parties.

Another thing they couldn’t stand was the perpetual failure they encountered in trying to construct a system which could make sense of the infinite amount of possibilities the Schwarze products offered, and in the end they grumpily announced that such a system was virtually impossible.

Then, one day, a student engineer who had been left to sweep up the department after a particular unsuccessful party found himself reasoning this way:
If, he thought to himself, such a system is virtually impossible, than it must logically be an infinite impossibility. So all I have to do in order to make one is to work out exactly how impossible it is, feed that into the finite possibility demodulator … and turn it on!
He did this, and was rather startled to discover that he had managed to create the long-sough-after “Infinite Possibility Locator” out of thin air.

It startled him even more when just after he was awarded the Schwarze “Prize for Extreme Cleverness” he got lynched by a ramping mob of respectable engineers who had finally realized that the one thing they really couldn’t stand was a smarty-pants.
